Rebuilding Lives: The Barka Training Apartment Project – House on the Warta

House of Warta 1x1 1

Since January 2025, with support from the Ministry of Justice in the Netherlands, the Barka Foundation in Poznań has been running the “House on the Warta” training apartment program on behalf of Barka Stichting.

This initiative is aimed at supporting 50 Polish migrants returning from the Netherlands, with ongoing assistance provided by the Barka NL teams. As part of the program, participants are offered free accommodation for six months at the House on the Warta. During their stay, they receive professional support from a psychologist, career counsellor, addiction therapist, and legal advisor.

Returning individuals (including deportees) are first welcomed into the Barka Communities. After completing addiction treatment, addressing health and legal matters, and beginning their reintegration journey, they may move on to the next phase: residential training at the House on the Warta. The goal is to help them regain independence and reintegrate into life in Poland.

By the end of the project in October 2027, a total of 60 people—including some Romanian citizens—will have received housing and reintegration support.
