Global economic growth and employment depend on the ability to support business growth. In this respect, entrepreneurship creates new businesses, opens up new markets, and develops new skills. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the main sources of employment in the European Union.
Objectives
One of the European Union’s main challenges is to foster entrepreneurship by addressing the following issues:
- Education should provide an ideal foundation for an entrepreneurial career;
- Limited access to finance and markets;
- Difficulty in transferring businesses;
- Fear of “punitive” consequences in case of failure;
- Cumbersome administrative procedures.
