Period: October 2017 – September 2019
ATOMS & CO is complementary to the previous project, Action To Make System – ATOMS, which was implemented between 2013 and 2015. This earlier project highlighted that family-related factors were not sufficiently taken into account in the support provided to students at risk of dropping out. The aim of the ATOMS & Co project, co-funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme, is therefore to strengthen families’ involvement in their children’s school life and to continue pursuing the objective of developing a school engagement support framework.
Objectives
- To identify the needs of families and frontline practitioners through the development of a situational analysis,
- To promote synergies between families, schools, and social support stakeholders (youth welfare services, public authorities, etc.) in order to reduce the risk of early school leaving and/or improve students’ academic success,
- To improve dialogue with families by making the meaning, objectives, and challenges of schooling, as well as the functioning of the education system, more understandable,
- To develop a transnational framework aligned with the identified needs, to test it, and to adapt it accordingly,
- To equip frontline practitioners with tools to better take family-related factors into account when supporting students at risk of dropping out.
