We are delighted to share the results of MY PEACE (Music for Youth, A Peacebuilding Approach), an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership led on the evaluation side by our member, Momentum Consulting, Ireland.
The project set out to answer a question close to CEC’s own mission: young people are increasingly recognised as key actors in climate action, employment, and health, so why is their role in peacebuilding still so underdeveloped? MY PEACE used music, a medium young people already trust and engage with, to close that gap.
Many CEC members work every day with young people who are marginalised, disconnected from mainstream structures, or navigating the aftermath of conflict and displacement. MY PEACE was built for exactly this kind of work. It gives youth workers, music educators, and peacebuilding practitioners evidence-based, ready-to-use tools that can be picked up immediately in both formal and non-formal settings, without needing specialist training or new funding.
What is available:
- The MY PEACE Roadmap is the project’s flagship resource. It combines a practical Methodology for using music to build dialogue, inclusion, and civic engagement, with a Compendium of 24 real-world case studies from across Europe showing how music has already been used to promote peace and cross-cultural understanding. Each case includes context, approach, and outcomes, so it can be adapted directly to local practice.
- The Digital Learning Portal is a living hub of video, training materials, blog content, and reflection exercises, with a Discord community for peer to peer exchange between practitioners across borders.
- A series of music production sessions, held in France and Bosnia and Herzegovina, brought young people together to co-create and perform songs carrying messages of peace. The recordings and videos offer a compelling example of youth voice in action, something many of our members are looking to demonstrate to funders and policymakers alike.
