The Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) is based on the LEADER approach and concern 4 funds: European Regional Development Fund - ERDF, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EARFD) the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) for the period 2014-2020.

It seems that CLLD approach will become the best way to beneficiate from Structural Funds.

What is meant by CCLD?

  • Focuses on specific sub-regional areas;
  • Is community led, by local action groups composed of representatives of local public and private socio-economic interest;
  • Is carried out through integrated and multi-sectorial are-based local development strategies designed taking into consideration local needs and potential, includes innovative feature in the local context, networking and where appropriate, co-operation.

In summary and after CEC talked with a Commission Official, if your organisation is not integrated in such CCLD or at least in a “Local Action Group”, it will be nearly impossible to be eligible for submitting proposals in the 4 funds of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI Funds).

For more information please see in attachment the description of the CLLD.
